Stuttgart, Arkansas 2012

Welcome to the Summer of Solutions Summer Program in Stuttgart, Arkansas!!!

This will be the very first year for the Summer of Solutions Program in Stuttgart, Arkansas!!! We are looking for passionate young adults to join our exciting summer program and help raise awareness about environmental justice in Stuttgart! Stuttgart is an incredibly unique community of just under 10,000 people. It is most commonly know as the duck and rice capitol of the world.

Our community is completely surrounded by rice fields that fuel our primary employer in town, Riceland Foods. Starting in late October, the rice fields are flooded to prepare for the duck migration and duck hunting season. Needless to say, our community is full of experts on agriculture and hunting.

This summer, we hope to reach out to our local experts to create a cultural community center that houses neighborhood gardens and an outdoor literacy program for summer school students. Participants will also plan community events 2 nights/week that center around topics such as health and wellness, small scale gardening, exercise, art, environmental justice, and energy saving techniques.

If you have any questions about our summer program or would like to talk to one of the program leaders, please feel free to contact us at our e-mail addresses listed below! We are super excited for this summer and are really looking forward to working with you!!
